Company Profile Sony's history in Hong Kong can be traced back to 1959. At that time, Sony opened a processing plant for atomic radios in Hong Kong through a local company. This was Sony’s first production plant overseas and marked an important page in Sony’s history. In November 1962, Sony Corporation established Sony (Xinli) Hong Kong Co., Ltd. as its third overseas company, dedicated to liaison work in the Asia-Pacific region. According to Sony's global brand guidelines, Sony implements a unified global Chinese translation of "Sony", making the company's brand management more complete. From April 1, 2009, "Sony (Sony) Hong Kong Co., Ltd." was renamed "Sony Hong Kong".
