The predecessor of Beijing Agricultural College was Tongxian Agricultural School of Hebei Province, founded in 1956. In 1958, Tongxian Agricultural School of Hebei Province merged with Beijing Agricultural Cooperative Cadre School and changed its name to Beijing Agricultural School. In 1965, Beijing established the part-agricultural and part-study Beijing Agricultural Labor University on the basis of the Beijing Agricultural School. In 1978, it was renamed Beijing Agricultural College with the approval of the State Council. The school currently covers an area of ​​about 1,000 acres, including the main campus, the east campus, the north campus, and the university science park market. In addition, the school has a 1,000-mu University Science and Technology Park Farm and a 10,000-mu University Science and Technology Garden Farm. The school has successively been awarded the titles of Beijing Garden Unit, Beijing Civilized Campus, Capital Civilized Unit Model, and National Civilized Unit. The school currently has 11 secondary colleges and 3 teaching departments, with 11 first-level discipline master degree authorization points and 7 professional master degree authorization points. There are currently 31 undergraduate majors, of which horticulture, veterinary medicine, and agricultural and forestry economic management are national specialty construction majors.
